Brønnøysund is nationally known as "The Costal Town in the middle of Norway". It is the centre of the Brønnøy Community and regional centre for the South of Helgeland. Brønnøysund is most famous for its mountain "Torghatten", a mountain with a hole straight through it. The Brønnøy community har about 7500 people living here, and about 5000 of them lives in the centre of Brønnøysund. To the east lies Velfjorden with its many fjords and characteristic inland climate, and to the west are many small and big islands which makes a beautiful landscape.
